City Engineer

The City of Fort Atkinson is seeking qualified candidates for the position of City Engineer. The Engineering Division performs professional engineering and administrative work in connection with the planning, design and construction or maintenance of the City’s public infrastructure. The Engineering Division provides engineering support to all City departments as needed. The position may have supervisory responsibilities over full time, part time and/or seasonal employees. The City Engineer reports to the Director of Public Works and is a member of the City’s Management Team.

Qualifications required include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or related field; five years professional experience or any combination of education and experience that provided equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Candidates must be a registered Professional Engineer in good standing within the United States, and have the ability to obtain Wisconsin licensure upon or within three months of acceptance.

The City of Fort Atkinson offers a competitive salary and benefits package with a salary annual range of $84,000-$92,610. Starting employees receive 80 hours of vacation (prorated from the start date), 40 hours of earned comp vacation, 10 holidays, earned sick days, and 2 personal days. The City is a part of the Wisconsin Retirement System, which is considered among the best in the country, and offers health, life, dental, vision, and income continuation insurance, and deferred compensation.
